A Typical First Donation –
Step by Step
Step by Step
Welcome!
A team member will greet you and help you get started on the initial paperwork. Make sure you bring your passport or ID card with you.
Health History Questionnaire and Physical Exam
Our specialists will take blood samples free of charge and conduct a physical. The purpose of the physical - is to make sure that plasma donation is right for you. During the examination, we can answer any questions you have about the donation process. And if you decide to donate plasma on a regular basis, you can take free physicals twice a year.
Blood plasma Donation
Our medical personnel will guide you to the donor chair. After you’re comfortable, he will connect to you the plasmapheresis machine. Here, the machine automatically separates your plasma from your blood cells, collects the plasma, then returns your red blood cells to you. Then, you’ll receive saline fluids to restore some of the water that was removed during the process.
You’re Done!
While side effects associated with the plasmapheresis process are exceedingly rare, it’s important to follow our doctors’ instructions and ensure that you drink plenty of fluids, eat a healthy meal and refrain from strenuous activities for the remainder of the day. Your monetary compensation will be automatically transferred to your bank card after each successful visit.
How to Prepare for Plasma Donation
You must donate again!
As a first-time donor, we can only use your plasma to make lifesaving medicines after you’ve donated next time. This is the reason why we ask you to come in for your second donation within six months. If you do not do this, you will not be listed as a qualified donor and cannot be a blood plasma donor.
